Picture
Name: Mark Baines
Place of birth: Mexborough
Occupation: Foreman
Experience: Involved in motorsport since the day I was born through family members marshalling across the country. Started working in indoor kart circuits 14 years ago, running many successful junior race schools seeing numerous drivers progress into car racing, some in America. Also raced karts myself for a number of years before stepping down to allow my son Jordan to start racing.
A typical race weekend for me would involve: Walking the drivers around the circuit and teaching the correct racing lines to be taken. Checking drivers' equipment and advising how to improve their technique. Constantly observing any changes to track conditions and altering the karts accordingly.
Best racing moment: Jordan's first ever race, finishing 12th out of 32 at Rowrah competing in the Little Green Man on novice plates. Jordan's W plate and being presented with driver of the day. March 2010 - Comer 1st and 2nd place with Leo Spencer and Ben Wilcox.
Hobbies: Karting, football - watching Sheffield Wednesday, marshalling and most motorsport
Ambitions for S8 Racing: Carry on progressing and become the leading kart racing team in the north of England
